JobTrackr — Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 25, 2026

JobTrackr ("the extension," "we," "our") is a browser extension that helps you track job applications by detecting job postings as you browse and saving them to a Google Sheet that you own and control. This policy explains what data the extension handles, how it is used, and what it is never used for.

Summary

JobTrackr reads job-posting information from pages you visit and writes it directly to a Google Sheet in your own Google Drive, using your own Google account. The developer does not operate any server that receives, stores, or processes your data. We do not collect your personal data, do not sell or share your data with third parties, and do not track your browsing for advertising or analytics.

What the extension accesses

Job-posting information. When you view a job posting on a supported site or a page that publishes standard job-posting data, JobTrackr reads publicly available details from that page — such as the job title, company name, location, posting URL, and (where available) salary. This information is read only so that you can save it to your own tracker.

Your Google account, with your permission. To write to a spreadsheet you own, the extension asks you to sign in with Google. Signing in is entirely optional and is initiated only when you click "Sign in with Google" in the extension's settings. Google then issues a temporary access token to the extension.

Data you enter. If you add or edit an application manually, the information you type is treated the same way as detected job data — saved to your Google Sheet.

Google account access and permissions

JobTrackr requests only the drive.file scope. This is the narrowest Google Drive permission available for this purpose: it grants the extension access only to files the extension itself creates. The extension cannot see, open, or modify any other file in your Google Drive.

When you connect your account, the extension creates a single new spreadsheet in your Drive for your applications. That spreadsheet is owned by you. You can open, edit, export, share, or delete it at any time, and revoking the extension's access does not delete it.

You can revoke JobTrackr's access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account's security settings, or by clicking "Disconnect Google Account" in the extension.

Where your data is stored

Your data lives in two places, both under your control:

The developer does not operate a server, database, or backend of any kind that receives your data. Requests go directly from your browser to Google's APIs, authenticated with your own credentials. Your job applications are never transmitted to, stored by, or visible to the developer.

Access tokens

The temporary access token issued by Google is stored locally in your browser and is used solely to authorize requests to the Google Sheets API on your behalf. It expires automatically after approximately one hour and is removed when you disconnect your account. It is never transmitted anywhere other than to Google.

What we do not do

Website access

JobTrackr requests access to websites in order to detect job postings wherever they appear. Because job postings can be published on a wide range of career sites and company pages — not only major job boards — the extension requires broad site access to identify postings using standardized job-posting data. This access is used solely to read job-posting information on pages where the extension is active. It is not used to read, collect, or transmit any other page content.

Third-party services

JobTrackr uses Google's authentication and Google Sheets services on your behalf. Your use of your Google account and Google Sheets is governed by Google's own privacy policy and terms. JobTrackr sends your job-application data only to the specific spreadsheet created for you in your own Google Drive.

Your choices

Children

JobTrackr is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
